Default He called me a go cart!!!

Was at the little store just down the street from where we live and a young dude pulled in towing a full size VW rail covered in mud.I talked to him for a few minutes and he said the engine had the output of 125HP and I told him that I have a Dazon 250 mini buggy and he said OH YOU MEAN ONE OF THOSE GO CART THINGS?My buggy had more more bells and whistles as far as being more street legal but I could in no way match the power of the VW engine.Thing is he had just come in from running the same trails I run my Dazon 250.....go figure? mancoman

Horsepower does not make one "king of the hill" when it comes to trail running! yea, he could out pull you on a straight run but you could smoke him on the technicaly challenging courses. You can do more with that dazon than he can with that rail, simply because of size alone.

I use the term kart/buggy simply because the public is still ignorant about mini-buggies- I agree with you & ckau. I owned and built 7 VW based buggies back when and have zero desire to go that route again after owning/building a kart/buggy and experiencing the FUN FACTOR with them, these mini-buggies will get your adrenanline soaring and the risk off 1,800+ lbs. getting stuck isn't a factor!!!! I just tell them they're go karts on steriods.

there are certainly pros and cons to both. My brother-in-law has a VW rail, and we went out riding a couple weeks ago. There were two big hills I climbed that he couldn't make it up because he was too wide, however his is street legal, and when you live in the city, that gives you the opportunity to drive around when you can't make it out to some trails. His also climbs forest roads much faster than mine does. Mine goes fast enough, but I also have it running wide open the entire time we're on forest roads, where it would be nice to not be maxing it out all the time.

One here (5min)

And one here (16min),

If I could get a bigger faster motor on the same size buggy I have now, that would be a winner! Also, if it were street legal... that'd be sweet!
