Battery Life
 I got a new battery for my son's little roketa less than a year ago. We took it out of there and put it into our 3206 Yerfdog end of last fall. Now it's shot.  Acts like it's got a bad/shorted cell.  How long do you guys batteries normally last? It's a 12N9 from Advance Auto. Got another just like it in the Baja - No problems.

Batteries can take a beating if not strapped down really well and can cause this type of failure.

Uh.....yeah...I guess.
But in line with what Metalstudman said, if it is a lead acid battery, the plates inside actually break loose and short out, over time. I use, whenever possible the newer sealed gell type batteries. they, for whatever reason, seem to hold up longer to a beating, but they, or any batter, MUST be tied down securely. You cannot afford to let the slip and slide around, only to be beaten to death. Another thing, is to install, or at least use some sort of trickle charger. I prefer the battery tender, whenever the kart is not in use. That way I know I'll have a charged and ready battery, when I'm ready. This is especially important, any time the battery is going to sit longer than 2 weeks, without being used. They cost about 40.00, but when batteries start lasting more than one season, you'll see it was a wise investment.
