Welcome.
If I am understanding this right.....
If it does not take gas maybe your carb float height is to low and keeping the needle seated.

Now with cam
I had mine a little off time and it did run, but like crap.
look here .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0K-ytyjOFg

When you do this make sure the piston is TDC too, by pulling plug and looking. to make sure it is on the compression stroke.

Welcome

Is the carb getting a sufficient amount of gas? Open the drain in bottom of carb to see if bowl is full. Does it have spark? Pull plug connect lead to plug and ground plug threads to valve cover, crank engine and observe spark, is it a bright blue in color? If not what color?
What is the valve lash set at ? How much compression does the engine have?

compression is good, has great blue spark, plenty of gas in the bowl, and the float is set level.took it to a guy this morning and he thinks its in the jets,he said way to small.main jet is only a 35.left it with him, told me he'd straighten it out.we'll see....thanks to all

The number 35 would be the pilot jet which is perfect for a stock to lightly modified 150.

the thing runs good, but only after it warms up.and i've never seen anything that took this long.it spit and spuddered for at least 15 min before it cleared up.hopefully its just the cold wheather.

these things are kind of cold natured, but your auto choke may not be working properly.

well i put a new carb on it,came with new choke.is there a way to adjust the electric choke? other than taking so long to warm up it only takes gas wide open.at least it can be rode.

I am just wondering if the choke is getting the continuous fire to it after it sitting for so long. what kind of condition are the electrical wires in?

check the ones to the choke. make sure of no broke wires, and no wires shorting out.
