Sputtering
Hello everyone, I have a problem with my sons 125cc carter bros gy6 cart. I parked it about two months ago, it was running fine. Unfortunately it has been stored out in the weather due to construction at the house. I tried to fire it up and let my son ride it yesterday but encountered a problem. It starts and idles fine. As soon as you hit the gas about 30%, it sputters. Just when it gets enough rpm to engage the transmission it starts sputtering. I can mash the accelerator all the way, it just sits in one spot sputtering. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. I pulled the fuel hose below the fuel filter and pumped about of cup into a glass. I didn't see any water.

I'd say probably good idea to take the carb off and clean it out. Could be some sediment in the main jet.

I've seen mice move into air boxes and exhausts.

In addition to cleaning the carb, you may want to drain the fuel tank, there may be water in there.

does sound like a fuel issue. Agree with pulling the carb, cleaning it, and get new gas for it. Make sure filter is good.
Id even check the spark plug, and make sure you have good connections to your coil. Make sure they solid and tight. |
