Default Hammerhead 250 Rear Tire Upgrade

Has anyone been able to install aftermarket rear tires on a Hammerhead 250 without any modifications? The stock tires are 22x10x10 and the closest fit I can find is either 22x11x10 or 23x10x10. When looking at the buggy it looks like 11" wide will rub the frame rail, and 23" tall will rub the fenders.

I run a Mud Lite 23x10x10. Fits fine. Others use the Kenda Bear Claw in the same size, I believe. Keep in mind, your stock 22" tire isn't 22" tall, so you are going to gain some height when you upgrade.

As far as your fenders go, I removed them and upgraded them.

you have a few choices on a rim/tire set-up for these 250 hammerheads. i run 25" mudlites on the rear of mine but if you haven't done any mods to your buggy i would stay with a 23" or smaller tire. you can also run different offsets to give you what you want in handling and stability.

Here's a pic of the Mudlites, and I agree with Kid, you can go even taller, but you'll need to make some modifications otherwise you're going to lose your low end.

I wanted to keep the stock rims cause I like the way they look (and I was being cheap), so that really limits what you can do, especially on the front. But, I went with a Kenda on the front and it was much, much taller than the stock tire. I did have to relocate the front fender brackets.

Thanks for the response. I like the Mudlites, but I was not sure if they would fit. I will look into them.

In the front picture of your buggy, is that piece of PVC an audiopipe? I was thinking about making one, and I was looking at that area to place the pipe. What size pipe is that?

Yes, it's PVC, I can't remember the size, 4"???. I use it as a glove box, but could probably work for audio, too.

Holy crap, dude! You really know how to revive an old thread. Those were Kenda Front Max tires 20x7-8. Still had to cut off the fender mount and weld it up higher.

What can I say? When I research info, sometimes I'll go as far back as I have to until I find what I need lol.
So the factory HH tires are not really 19's? I was hoping to avoid relocating the mounts.
