Default To Air Cleaner, or to not Air Cleaner

Noticed that the tube that runs from the air cleaner, to the cab is old, and cracking.

Looking at the price to replace it at hammerhead is $36

Or, should I look at

I installed a new carb, and it came with a new filter. There just isnt enough clearance between the carb and one of the supports to mount it directly, I woud go with the stack intake (or if someone has a better recommendation).

I plan on rebuilding the carb that I took off of it, more for a project to get my kids hands dirty then anything else.

Any input greatly appreciated.

IMO- The shorter the tube the better for my stuff. Any air cleaner is better than nothing of course, if the area you ride is extremely dusty then a larger (more surface area) air filter is needed so you're not having to clean it constantly-a pre-filter,outer sleeve(the foam type) is a must for my equipment. I personally don't care for the airbox as it takes up WAY too much space & I can't get to the carb very easily if there is an issue. I love UNI-filters!
