Default Foward/reverse gear throwing grease

i have a kinroad 150cc buggy and the foward/reverse gearbox (at least that's what i assume it is) its constantly slinging grease out onto the air filter and everything else around it. i haven't taken it apart, just curious if anyone else had this problem and what could it be

You sure it's not the chain itself?

check the big nut by the chain, if it works loose then the two halves of the gear box will start to separate

yeah i know its not just the chain its throwing gear grease lots of it, ill have to check that nut that could very well be the problem thanks

i checked it out and the nut wasn't loose is there supposed to be a gasket between the two halves?

there should be a big rubber o-ring between the two halves
