Our new Buggy fleet!
I bought 3 buggy's for use on my family's ranch in Texas. It's all flat with some very minor ups and downs. One very big hill we made (a rock crusher rents a lot of property from us and we have access to everything) but otherwise no hills. Just woods, creeks, and trails on about 400 acres. One lap on our "course" takes about 8:33 minutes on a Hammerhead 250cc but that's pushing it HARD and getting beat to death lol.
At the bottom are pics of all the and the tracks. I'll rearrange once I'm back home on a computer. Last edited by Superman; 06-13-2012 at 09:54 AM. Reason: Updated info. |

Well the guy with the SunL went down to $1000 and is willing to bring it to meet me South of Dallas so i'm really leaning towards that one now. It's really a good looking cart.

Welcome- The sunl does look clean.
I'd be worried about the Carter too and the fact he hasn't repaired it himself. The Fox is over priced but a solid toy This Maxxam is high priced too The Roketa GK-28 150cc looks okay (BS on the 50mph!!!) Just curious why the reverse on the Crossfire is a negative? The Maxxam says it needs an ignition- I don't take that as a starter- I'd be worried about it. That's a lot of choices!!! Good luck. I hate to say it but untill you see/drive it there's too many unknown's to say whether the price is too high on any of these. |

The guy with the Talon said he can and will repair but he doesn't have the time for a few weeks. He's a 1 man repair shop. Seems to me if you want to sell it you can make the time? The guy with the Roketa was really nice but unwilling to go below $1250 because he "has paperwork showing it was a $3000 kart. I'm sorry but I can buy a brand new Roketa in Dallas for $1600. I already talked to the dealer. The Maxxam needed the actual 5 wire key ignition part. While I was on the phone with the guy I looked it up and emailed him the link. He was a bit surprised by that. Simple $30 fix. Off topic but the SunL doesn't have front mud flaps/fenders and I'm having a devil of a time finding them online. Any suggestions? If I saw a crossfire up here in NY that looks as good as that one WITH reverse...for $900 starting price, I'd have a hard time saying no.

I definitely intend to look at that one however just tonight a guy called me and has two Hammerhead Super 250's and he's considering my offer of $3000. He's asking $3400. He may also throw in another mint condition 250 that has engine issue for $300-400.

Hammerhead 250's-That sounds like a super deal if they're in good running shape-(the extra buggy is inexpensive icing on the cake!!! spare parts if nothing else assuming you have the storage space for it)
I definitely agree with stugots about the Crossfire as well (proven durabilty, solid engine, parts are available & fairly simple to work on regardless if there's no manufacturer support nearby) |

If all else fails I'm definitely going to take a look at the Crossfire. I'm lucky I don't live in Texas full time or I'd snap up 5-6 of these things. Addict in the making. |

Carter, Sunl, and Baja are good buggies to stay away from. Carter is no longer in business and in the later years 2007 up made everything just a bit different so you would have to go to them for parts, Sunl used an off version of the GY6 engine and is almost nill on replacement parts if it has the off engine, Tomberline had tranny issues and although nor out of business they no longer carry parts for them. HH, Roketa, and Kinroad are the best bet. Crossfire is OK unless it has the internal reverse parts are hard to come by.

Here are the other two. I'm SUPER pumped because the guy was wrong about the issue (he's just coordinating the sale because he's internet savvy). The issues with the blue one are broken brake caliper, broken headlight, broken shifter, and it won't shift gears. I found a new gearbox, head light, shifter assembly, and caliper all for $240 shipped.

These go karts are insanely awesome. Oh and the broken one? Not broken at all. Spark plug disconnected. Needs front right brake pads, caliper, and new ignition. Runs like a champ! It also only has 92 hours on it!!! The silver one has 285 hours and the black one has 292. 7 years old and ridden 40 hours a year on average.
The ranch they were on was amazing. Oil millionaire. Straight mind blowing. He's upgrading to Razors. |

Yeah sorry man I was the first reply he said. He took 3 days to respond. It's a realtor buddy he does business with who is selling them for him.

Some more pics
GPS Map of our course. I used my Nike Map My Run App which even recorded how hard I was pushing the karts. Totally dictated by terrain. It's a sweet enduro style course. Distance view 2.42 miles in 6:42 mm: Last edited by Superman; 06-11-2012 at 01:23 AM. |

We grew up riding dirt bikes and there are trails all over for those. These re trails are made with a 6ft shredder for the karts.

The trails are really fun, curvy, creeks, dips, a big dirt pile, steep drops, and switch backs. My Dad is really creative with making them.

So we added to the track and it's now 3.12 miles long. Also added a long loop that's .42 miles long and then started on a dirt track.
The karts after a pressure washing Longer track Loop at north end of propert along fence line. Making the dirt track |

Well I'm planning on trying to host a "Buggy Weekend" in 2013. I only get to go home once or twice a year. central Texas might be a haul for you but I'll plan it with plenty of notice.
Maybe your company would sponsor it by paying for your gas? I'd let you set up a tent for your company. We bought them for family and friends to ride and for my upcoming wedding in September. |

Thanks guys. Miller lite and a Cohiba Red Dot from Dominican Republic. I prefer beer and jäger bombs myself. I like nice bourbon and whiskey too.
Thanks for the heads up about eagle atv. Oh there were big grins, high fives, and "these karts are insane statements" lol |
