Default First problem with the Carbide!

Well my son was out on the Carbide today and it wouldn't go into forward gear. I never had a problem with it on my other AMS machines but on the carbide, the little plastic gear selector that the cables attach to at the engine gave up and cracked / broke. You can still manually put it in either by hand but what a drag. I have just shy of 300 miles. Looks like I'll be ordering parts!

Yes, the 150. AMS uses a different style reverse. It's not the typical external reverse thing you see on most of them.

It's not too bad. The parts are easy to get and I know these machines pretty well so working on them is just trivial in most cases.

I should also mention that the replacement gear for these is no longer plastic. They're metal! About time they did that.

You just gotta blip the throttle while changing from forward to reverse or other direction.

You gotta do short jabs with the throttle as you are putting it in gear.

So you are saying that when you go to switch to forward or reverse it feels like it is binding? Is your idle too high? If your idle is too high, it is putting pressure on the physical gears which will keep them from being able to budge.
