CDI box wrong from GOOFIT
bought a CDI, Coil and filter. from GOOFIT
Orange coil seems to be to short Orange CDI box is wrong... I found a conversion harness, wonder if that would work?

yes, I have the square plugs and the one that came in is the rounded off CDI plug ins

I know the knmparts.com sells the adapter pigtails. I just saw them on one of their videos.

Be careful when it comes to CDIs. Had some dope sell me the wrong one before. It shorted out and caught fire in my garage. the smoke got sucked into AC/heating unit in the garage and that's how I noticed it when the smoke was coming out of the vents.

You either have the Ac volt or DC volt CDI so you need to determine which one you have. On the GY6 there should be no need for an adapter pigtail, your harness should just plug in. Do you have a buggy or scooter and which make

If you look at the pictures, it appears there are "square" and "rounded" style plugs on the CDIs. I have a square and the CDI I received has the rounded connectors.

I have never run into a 150 AC or DC volt CDI with the square plug in. Only on the 250cc have I run into this. I just returned a 2013Kandi 150 to the customer which needed a CDI and it was the round plug.

BTW the orange box doesn't start the buggy More research, looks like I have a DC CDI I received a smaller AC CDI

Timing advance in a cdi is mapped according to vehicle. The performance CDI's are mapped for scooters which are much lighter and only drive one much lighter wheel. Being the buggy is much heavier than a scooter, driving 2 wheels with a 20 pound axle the rpm's the buggy will need advance will be much different than the scooter since the scooter puts more of the engines HP to the road as compared to the buggy. Now back to the old AC cdi's some performance cdi's would give you some performance gain since the buggy come with a scooter mapped cdi. However the late model dc buggies due to EPA have to have their own mapping in order to pass certification. The timing comes in at different rpm as compared to the much lighter scooter. Unless you go with an adjustable dc cdi there will be no benefit and will most likely hurt performance some. The adjustable cdi' work great but due to using a dash pot for adjustment it's just a matter of time due to shock the timing will move and adjustment will be lost and they are expensive. I looked into MSD building one for the buggy but unless there are huge quantities ordered the cost would be somewhere in the area of $500.00. They don't use the flawed dashpot but instead a laptop is used to map timing events. The customer I spoke of in a previous post had a performance cdi on his buggy. He brought it to me with a no start after setting up for a year while deployed over seas. He was telling me how even though it had little run time on it it was lacking power after installing the cdi. The dealer he perchased the buggy and cdi from talked him into the hot coil, uni, rejet and iridium plug. Shortly after he was deployed. I cleaned his carb and stuck a stock ASW dc cdi on it and he was pleased with how it performed

Wow, it makes perfect sense. I have made a high speed run, and a rev limiter does not exist. I have spun the motor to almost 9000rpm and it never hit a limiter.

Add to that, the motor stops making power around 7500 RPM so anything over that is just unnecessary abuse on the engine. This is why a stock CDI limits rpm to around 7800 rpm. Many people think that the rev limit controls top speed. This is not the case it is to preserve the engine. With acception of some ASW buggies they have what is known as a kids cdi which limits speed to only 25mph, but they are the only ones I know that have that and I'm not sure if they even offer that option anymore.

you could definitely feel no additional power, I will attempt this again and this time see if I can achieve the same 40mph not spinning it over 8000rpm
