Needs some opinions please
Our organization is looking at purchasing some different buggys/UTVs. And we need some opinions from people that either sale them or has had them.
We're looking at either purchasing: 1 (one) BMS 800 Vtwin buggy or 2 (one each) TrailMaster 300 Challenger UTV TrialMaster 300 buggy If we get the 800, it'll be the Racing Dreamz trail buggy for official use on Doe Mountain. If we get the two units, one will be the official buggy and the other used for competition purposes. But the main question, will either one pull two adults up and down mountain trails(long hills). What type of aftermarket goodies will be needed for it to do so? Any comments and suggestion/opinions are welcome. We will be purchasing this(these) first of next month as we have to start working with the state of Tenn to cut course for the Rally at Doe Mountain event this coming June. Thanks in advance. |

I'd say either one will do that. Heck the 150's do pretty good.

The 800 will definitely do what you want, but the 300 will be lacking with 2 adults on the steep hills. The CVT is no problem to mod but engine mods even as simple as replacing the crappy carb will take some engineering. I am not a fan of the 300.

Thanks for the reply guys. Tom, that's what I was looking for. Inside information on the pulling and quality of the machine. As you can imagine, living here in east Tenn, on Doe Mountain, we need something that will pull and pull good. Just that the 800 is a bit out of our price range unless we sell our BMW. If any more suggestions, please share. Thanks again.

What about a VW trail buggy/rail? You can pick up a nice one for under $5k.

Look on craigslist for one of the Joyner 800 sand vipers used. That 800 Chery engine has a ton of power for your terrain.

Thanks again for your thoughts. A VW rail, around here, is usually way too wide for the tight trails here. Besides, I really need a CVT tranny as the wife cant drive a manual. Same with the Joyner. Also, Joyners are so rare around here, people think they are made of gold. I saw an old 06 650, one of the first models out, for sale. They wanted $5K for it. Never saw a drop of rain, they said. It was sitting out side for 3 months with a for sale sign on it.
