Default Kinroad 150cc Buggy

Does anyone know if this has an A/C or D/C CDI?

Do you have a "kill" switch (push button or toggle)? AC CDI's use a kill switch in addition to the ignition switch to turn off the engine. You can also check the 2-wire connector to the CDI. AC will have 2 wires (AC input from stator and kill switch connections), DC will only have 1 wire (12 vdc input).

There are other pin configurations for the CDI's but these are the most common for a 150cc. Is it a GY6 150cc engine? A picture of the CDI and connectors would just about nail it down.

Everything I have read my buggy has both of what people have said for AC and DC. It has a kill switch, a push button, but the kill switch isn't wired to the CDI. On the secondary plug there is only 1 wire, a black one. There is a black wire with red stripe coming off the stator but it isn't connected to anything. I have included pictures of the CDI, the 4 wires to the CDI and a pic of the wires coming from the stator. Yes, it is a GY6 clone 150cc.

from what I have found so far it looks like the 4 and 5 wire cdi"s are for 125cc and below engines. you sure you have a 150cc?

Where does the black wire go to on the secondary plug? The black with red stripe plugs into a bullet connector which goes somewhere, usually another black with red stripe wire that ends up in one side of the secondary CDI connector. Does it look like the secondary connector ever had another wire in it? A little history of the buggy might help. Did you remove the CDI 4-pin connector end or someone else? With the battery hooked up, turn the ignition switch on and see if you have 12 vdc on the black wire in secondary connector.
