Does any one know what the Gap should be on a new set of rings for the Yerf dog Rover 150cc GY6 engine? I bought the rings but they have to filed down to fit. Please help.

to a certain extent, yes a new set of piston/rings in a fresh cylinder will take some run time to "seat." If it is smoking pretty heavily and really going through the oil, then either the rings are not offset or gapped correctly or the piston/ring combo isn't matched properly size-wise to the cylinder bore.

Thanks for the info. The oil is being consumed very heavily. I guessing that the rings were not offset or gapped like you mentioned. The parts were specific to the engine bought from BMI Karts. Going back to the mechanic tomorrow to discuss options.

Thanks for replying!
