Default zircon go-kart - grinding metal on metal sound.

Hey guys, first time poster here.

We've got a new Zircon go kart that seems to have developed a metal on metal grinding sound when moving. Still runs, but folks are getting freaked out about it.

Is this something to worry about? If so, what is it likely to be?.

any metal on metal grinding sound means STOP! put it in the air on stands etc and check your tires for bad bearings, look at your driveline to see if a sprocket or convertor is rubbing on something. look for fresh bare metal, shavings. Not knowing what it looks like, i have noreal clue, but that's the basics. If it has a band brake or calipers, either of those could be dragging or misaligned and making the noise. it could just be something has loosened up from the break-in runs.

Did this just start out of the blue as in you got on it one day and all of the sudden it's grinding? Also, does it grind no matter what you do?

One thing that comes to mind is to make sure the parking brake is not on. It is a metal swing-around piece that sits by the brake pedal. Make sure that is not hung up and wearing your brakes out.

Have you checked the fluids in the transmission?
