Question Pulling the motor

Hi Folks,
I'm about to yank the motor out of my trailmaster 150 to do a full CVT/BBK/4Valve head upgrade. Any advise to make it easier? Besides the wires it just looks like a couple of bolts, but unsure of best practices i.e. dropping the axle, etc, to make it as straight forward as possible.

Unless you have to bore the cases, I don't think you will need to remove the engine.

If he is doing the 4 valve head, you have to split the cases to replace the timing chain.

Normally you don't need to remove the axle, or swing arm from the buggy. It will make it easier if you do either, but the short and sweet method is remove the rear chain tensioner, pull chain off engine, disconnect all wires and cables, remove the top engine mounting bolt, and slip and wiggle it out the rear of the frame.

I have a 2012 trailmaster 150xrs, it has a removable cover behind the variator. I am pretty sure you can access the timing gear on the crankshaft after you remove the cover, eliminating the need to split the cases or remove the engine.

Check your parts catalog wildbob. The cover is shown in the first diagram. Part #8

Oh, I was refering to the process of removing the motor. I'm changing out the timing chain, so I need to split the case. Plus, I'm thinking it will be easier to work on up on the work table, than kneeling on the freezing garage floor.

Didn't you see my post above? You don't have to remove the engine or split cases to replace the timing chain. My guess is you will have to kneel on the garage floor to remove the engine though. I would bet you will spend more time on the floor removing and replacing the engine than you would spend doing the parts swap. This is my opinion and I am not trying to be argumentive at all. You should do things your way.

I hear ya 351, I'm just thinking I probably won't have free time to do it all in one shot. So, I'll pull the motor and work on it as time permits.
