Carbide 150

Hello everyone! I am new to the forum and new to buggies. I just bought a fox carbide 150 for me and my 4 boys. It doesn't look like the previous owner did much to maintain it but I still think I got a good deal. One of the front wheels was rusted and he had put washers on the lugs to keep the wheel from falling off. Well that only lasted one day, my son was riding it through our field and the wheel fell off. We replaced the wheel and put 2 new front tires on. One of the problems I am having is almost every time I put it in reverse it will not go back into drive. I have to shut it off, shift into drive and then start it back up. Anyone had this issue before? Also I was wondering what would be the best upgrades to start with. I was surprised to see how many different performance parts are out there for this motor.

The idle being too high could be your shifting problem. Also check to make sure the cable is adjusted properly.

My first guess is high idle. Also make sure your kids blip the throttle just slightly until they feel the gear engage before they mash the gas. Those are good buggies.

I will try turning the idle down and also check the cable tomorrow. What it is doing is kind of weird though, sometimes the shifter will move into position fine but you give it some gas and you are still in reverse and other times it feels like there is a lot of tension on the cable and it won't move up to the drive position.

Go to the American Sportworks website and you can download the engine shop manual, there is also a separate transmission manual you can download. The manual's will be for the Mdl.7150, this will give all the info needed to troubleshoot and adjust cables and such in an easy to follow format.
