Default battery wont charge

well I have an Carter X-Machine with an 150cc gy6 and the battery wont stay charged it well hold a charge when it is off but when it runs but seem to short out as soon as it runs for more then a 60 seconds. because if I turn it off and try to restart it it just sets there and buzzes. I have gone throw all the electronics and cleaned up the mess the previous owner left. whats the deal???

I know it's a PITA, but sounds like you got a short that you're just gonna have to hunt down! We've all been there at one time or another!!!

PAIN IN THE A**
if the wiring is straight, get it running and use a voltage meter set to DC on the battery. give it a couple of revs if the the voltage climbs at all it should be charging and the problem is probably the battery. if it doesnt you either have a bad rectifier or stator. the rectofier is the cheaper, easier part to change out so i would start there.

I haven't tried that but if I turn on the lights when it is idling the lights are vary dim but if I rev it up they get brighter. I think it is the battery just want to make sure it is before I buy one.

hey Mutt, one way to see if you have a short is to do this. disconnect your negative ground cable from the battery. Using a 12 volt test light, hook or touch one end of it to the disconnected cable end and touch or hook the other end to the battery. If it lights up, you have a short somewhere.

Its normal for your lights to get brighter when you rev the motor up.
