Flat slide carbs
I've heard people rave about them, any owners want to chime in? Thinking of switching to a mikuni on my 155 GY6. Suggestions for what one works best?

Flat slides are notoriously hard to tune. Pilot jet, main jet, needle size and height, and so on. The offset is, they produce the best combination of low end and top end performance. Round slides are a little more forgiving in the tuning department. Most GY6 owners just pop the 30mm pumper on there and thats enough for them. The pumper on my Dazon has very crisp response and it runs like a scalded dog wide open.

Also, be very leery about any used flat slides. Because the slide area is so minimal on the sides, they tend to wear quicker. Then you can get air leaking around the slide and it becomes a nightmare to try and tune, while the round slides tend to last forever.

I had a 28 millimeter flat slide. when it ran it ran the best It ever had. it did wear out. I'm now using a 26 mm round slide carb I've got it dialed in pretty good and using a 155cc kit.I'm overall pretty pleased with how the yerf is running.I would never go back to a CV carb.I run slide cards on that everything I have.

Thanks guys, I'm kicking the idea around of getting a wee bit smaller slide carb, instead of the 30mm pumper I have now. I haven't had an opportunity to test the pumper with the rebuilt motor yet so maybe I'll hold off and give it a shot. I can always replace later..

Except for shocks, I've pretty much got my buggy modded, as far as I'm going to go..But, I'm still thinking, about ditching the "pumper" for a VM-26 Mikuni..

Just got mine dialed in where I like it. No flat spots anywhere now. Very responsive VS. the CV carb I remember. Worth the extra $ on a trail buggy? Prob not unless you're a gear head like me that modifies everything.
But if you're after hard accel, it's a yes.
