Default Tubing and steel plate

I was wondering where, what kind of place, and prices you pay for steel tubing.
I have some stainless steel angle iron that I have welded together to make tiers on my project welding cart/table.
I am now in need of square tubing and a 4x2 1/8 or 1/4. Inch steel or stainless steel plate.

The hardware stores just have small pieces at expensive prices. No steel plates at the hardware stores.

For stainless, check out stainlesssupply.com good prices and quick shipping. My plates for my science fair came in great cond. and were cut to my size.

For mom stainless, go metalsdepot.com I've never ordered from them, but I've seen good reviews ad their prices are fair.

Hope it helps

Honestly, look for welding shops and trailer repair places. I know we have a huge boat trailer calling down here, and shops seem to be everywhere, but you should be able to locate one close by. If all else fails, call the welding supply places and ask where you can find metal. I picked up some 4x4 1/4" angle for about $7/ft at a local welding/trailer shop. They don't have much of the fancy stuff like chromo and stainless, but they have a wide selection of angle, square, c-channel, and round in mild steel.

Yota, that's a good idea that I need to keep in mind! I'll keep a lookout if I'm up by my local lakes. Oh wait... Who was this thread about to begin with?

thanks for the info guys, but I have another question before I get the top plate.
Since I am using a flux core welder, do I want a certain material to use?
Something that the spatter doesn't stick to?
I have even seen flux core table where the center had expanded steel maybe a (2'x1') to catch spatter and a bin to empty.... What do you think?

I'm almost positive flux core doesn't do aluminium and stainless, but if I were you I would check.

Aluminum no. Stainless yes. I have already welded some 1.5x1.5 inch 14 gauge 304 stainless steel angle for my base shelf and mounting base for the top.
I don't plan on welding the plate on because I don't want it to warp. I would secure it with screws.
