Question GY6 Model number

Everybody tells me a new Carbide 150 has a GY6 engine. The number I get off the crankcase ( low on the crankcase on the passenger side ) is JL1001-24B. Is that the motor model number or a casting number. It does not seem to match up to anything people have been talking about as far as engine model numbers go. It is supposed to be a Subaru engine.Let me know will you. Thanks

A carbide 150cc is in fact a GY6 engine. Now they did at one time make a 260cc engine that was more of a conventional go kart engine. I can't remember if they were a suburu or not. If you have a picture, we can tell you for sure.

Default More about GY6

A few more facts about the engine. It is made in China (it tells you the name of the company) and imported by Hammerhead Off Road Co. It belongs to the engine famly ATJPX acording to a sticker on the top of the motor caseing. The sticker also has a lot of tune up and anti pollution details. It is one of those never come off stickers. I will try to get you some pic. But does any of that stuff make sense.

Well my numbers on the crankcase are JL1001-24B and kind of in the same place. But the number on the sticker with all the other info is called the engine family and are ATJPX and ATJPP. The numbers on the crancase may be 10 for 2010 and o1 for Jan. Kinda makes some sense. Maybe??? I will get some pic. Then figure out how to post them. Thanks.

I checked the drivers side and there is nothing anywere. I checked all over and not a thing. The numbers I do have are on the passenger side down low. They are stamped into the housing. Then I have a stay on forever sticker with engine family numbers and other specs. I checked all this when the buggy was as high on the stands as I could get it. I will take some pic. Then I will figure out how to put them on the thread.

Really busy to day. Maybe later I can get at it. I have the name of the motor manufacturer on the sticker. Going to jack it up again and take some pic. Will try to post them. My number is JL 1001-24B not jl 1001-2413 don't kow if that would make a difference.
