I would think bad ground. AC or DC?

What is it doing? Running bad? Running good then shorts out? Not saying you don't know what your doing, but make sure you didn't put an ac cdi in or visa versa....make sure it's the right cdi for what you have. And if that's correct, then double check your grounds, and get a meter and see what the output is of the stator. Its a possibility it's sending to much voltage. Of that's the case, there is a regulator im sure that might be going out.

As stated above check to see if your cdi is AC volt or DC volt. There are 2 plugs to the CDI. If the smaller plug 2 pin has 1 wire to it, it's DC volt if 2 then it's AC volt. Make sure you have the correct CDI.

A 12 volt system should have an output of 12-14 volts. Anything more and there is a problem. To much voltage is bad...in the flip side, to little is bad too! We will figure this out brotha!

Well......yes. I guess I can 14.5 hehe! But working with cars alot, I've came across quite a few alterators that over charge and its bad for batteries. Causes them to gas or short out. Nothing different from a small 12v kart batt. And, if I am wrong please tell me. As it would be a learning lesson for myself as well.
