Default Engine Problems

Hey Guys,

New to the website. I just picked up an American Autowerks 150cc Buggy Cart
Great Fun.

I would like to have some peoples input on what else i could check or if someone else had this issue before i buy a replacement motor.

I had it out went through a puddle and now it wont crank over.

1. Replaced the Starter (The Starter when i took it apart look lik the magnet inside exploded)
2. Replaced the Ignition Switch
3. Replaced Battery
4. Replaced the Starter Relay
5. Re Grounded all the Ground Leads I was able to Find

All it does it click

Then i took off the Clutch cover to see if the clutch was stuck or something.
I took the drive belt off and was able to spin the clutch. Clutch is fine

Then I tried to spin the drive gear with my hand it was pretty hard to turn. I was unable to spin it with my hand but i was able to sping it with a socket and rachet..

Any experience this?

Possibly before i start ripping stuff apart any ideas?

Starter Drive Gear screwed?
engine doesnt appear to be seized...

ANY HELP WOULD BE AWESOME!!

Thanks in advance..

Before anything check your inline fuse may be blown. Sometimes you won't see it burnt so just replace it. That's probably all it is.

Thanks for the reply.

I checked the fused and i replaced it. Same thing..

Its seems like something is jamming the starter. Like there is not enough torque in the starter to turn it over...

But it clicked before the starter was replaced and im pretty sure i ordered the correct starter...

Any other suggestions ?

Make sure your new battery is fully charged. And yes hopefully you got the correct starter and its not a factory defect. You can try jumping your battery with your car but the car must be off do not start the car when jumping your buggy.

Also after doing what I mentioned above. Does your buggy have a safety switch on the brakes to where you have to depress the brakes for it to start? If so try bypassing it by riding the two wires together.

No bypass wires for the brake pedal... and I know the starter turns when cause i took it out of the block and grounded it and put power to it, i can hear and see it spinning..

Its the same battery as the old one and i fully charged it..

One more thing to see if this works if not will let someone else chime in... at your relay starter put a screwdriver between the two bolts with the key on and see if it turns. Jump start it with screwdriver key must be on. Try that and see if motor turns over.

If she turns over then you bought a bad starter relay.

The Click is normal.. it is the soleniod on the starter relay plunging down to make the connection for the 12v to the starter.

Here is my manual read around page 50 for starter relay. and page 66-76 for electrical trouble shooting. http://www.amsportworks.com/pdfs/LUT...al-14589R4.pdf
I am also having problems except my machine does not turn over or lights turn on it is just electrically dead.
