Re jetting?
I have the 7150 carbide and I think it goes for all other carts but when I change things such as getting a UNI filter it says to rejet your carb. Now if I am right this means you have to compensate for the change by either increasing or decreasing your jets? Please elaborate!

increased air flow requires increased fuel flow (usually larger jet size). Also don't forget to get that higher flow out the exhaust too!

American Sportworks machines like a lot of jet too by the way. Our helix with exhaust and muffler on it along with an A-9 cam and no limit CDI took a 148 main jet! And that was done using a wide-band 02 sensor!
How big a jet you go to will dictate what all mods you do that affects the air going in or going out. What all are you wanting to add? |

How do you tell if a jet is too big or small? Where's the sweet spot?

Unfortunately for me it's all trail and error!! Do a plug check to see what color it's burning, The speed of throttle response from one size to another,over all performance (feel & sound). The sweet spot is a good idle with great throttle response and a grayish light tan plug.

Many pardons for high- jacking the thread but could you elaborate on using the wide-band sensor? what type and process.
I attempted to use one with no success, either a program glitch, wrong sensor, improper hookup or my lack of knowledge -probably a combination of all above. |

I've got a picture of it in place somewhere but I made bracket out of an 02 bung and some angle iron and set it up to where the wideband would sit right in the exit of the muffler. The optimum AFR is 12.5 to 1. Our first pass it was nearly 16:1 !!! Man was that plug white.
I can't remember what the hell brand mine is as I am writing this but it is common brand and yes, they are expensive. If you ever want to dial yours in and don't mind driving to statesville, we can tune it here. |
