White smoke from cvt port
Hey guys, I replaced rollers with 12 gram sliders and stock torque spring with yellow 1500.
Works just fine riding up and down the street. Went on the trails and got stock in mud. Gave it gas and tires were not spinning. I am guessing stock belt was burning/slipping?? Smelled like rubber... Could these mods be too much for a stock ( maybe original in good shape) belt? If I get Kevlar would this continue? Not too thrilled about going back in cvt. hopefully I can salvage the new gasket I put on last week. Thanks for reading and I need some input everyone. Also I have come to he conclusion that I am the equilvant of a Trekie but I am a buggier. (obsessed and addicted )

from what i've read on the kevlar, not really worth the dollars. if the belt was used and all else new, you might have just pushed it to the end of its life. toss a new regular one on it and got through it again. if the wheels ain't turning, the belt (or clutch) is burning. if you tear the gasket, it's no big deal, it's not keeping any fluid in. if you have to scrape it and get a new one, coat both sides of the new one with grease (just put a glob on thumb and forefinger and run the gasket through it).

OEM belts works for me The belt appeared good, but maybe I did just finish it off. Have to open it to find out " boo " The clutch pads were still pretty thick, if I had to guess the pads are at least 3-4 times the thickness of a dime. That is a good idea with the grease.

While ur in there look at ur clutch bell. If its real smooth ruff it up with 80 grit sand paper.so the pads grab better. Although i think its ur belt. Make sure you get the correct size belt.

The bell is rather smooth I recall. I will definitely hit it with some sandpaper while I am in there. I have the parts number for the correct belt. Thanks for the advice

X bird, I think you we're right. Clutch bell now has a purplish hue and clutch pads have a glazed/ shiny look.

Thanks Eddie upon second look, I think the hue is just a reflection of light . I will scuff the bell up and also post some pics. Wonder if I can do anything about the pads. Plenty of thickness on them still. Kid n me says replace if dime thickness.

Nothing you can do about the pads only to replace them. Idk how much worn it takes for it not to work. Ruff up ur bell alittle and see if that works if not you'll need to get the clutch like kidnme said. If it does work you saved yourself some money. If it looks like 3-4 dimes thick and you can use it till its a dime thick your good. Just scuff up the bell.

You "should" be able to sand your pads and get some life out of them. However, you need to try and keep them the same shape as stock. If you get flat or high spots on the pads, you will not have as much contact patch on the bell and you will have reduced friction.
Also, if you play in those conditions much, you may want to go with the heavier clutch springs. Should help to keep the clutch in one piece.

Update : Sanded of the glaze from clutch pads, scuffed up bell, and added 1500 clutch springs. It accelerates with more power (more bite) off the start now. I think once I get new clutch and bell I will see even better results, but for now I can keep riding. Thanks for all the info and insight gentleman.
