HH 250ss cutting out.
Have a hh250 ss and cant get it to do anything other than idle with any sort of airflter. Stock air box it just spits and sputters when throttle is applied. Have tried a couple of cone shaped filters and it does the same thing. Have tried re jetting from stock 107 all the way up to 125 or 130 and same thing.
Only way to make it drivable is with no filter what so ever then it runs/drives good up to almost wot then starts to spit and sputter. Havent tried a uni filter cause i dont have one the will fit.

Carb may need cleaning or enrichment valve is not working. What color is your plug?

Carb has been chem dipped and blowed out with an air compresser. valves been adjusted and it has 160 psi compression. Ill put a new plug in and check.....gonna have to do it with no filter tho cause like i said anything but an open carb and it wont do anything but spit and sputter past idleish.
Question.....how in the world can a motor almost twice as big as a gy6 have a 107 main stock????? Also i have a 4v FI 250...whats to stop me from swapping over the FI stuff over to the HH?

I have never seen a 250 with that small of jet. The early 2000's 150's used a 107 main.

All I can say is April 2014 I sold and moded a GTS250 for a customer. I had replaced a oem 118 main jet. This buggy happened to be the last 250 HH sold. They haven't had any since up to the Polaris acquisition and still don't think they have any.

Whats the basline setting on the enrichment screw 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 turns? I believe i set it to 2 1/2 when i put the carb back together.

Ok put new plug in and uni filter and did a couple of runs and plug was chalky (110 main) but no spits and sputters. tried 130 and had sputter but no change in plug color then tried 125 and still sputters and no change in color.

The black chalky color is from the idle circuit. You need to do a full throttle run cutting off engine at end of run with throttle still fully open. Pick a strait mostly level road about 900-1200 feet long. From a dead stop accelerate to full throttle all the way through the 900-1200 foot run. With foot still at full throttle cut the engine off and do not remove foot until engine stops running. Having your plug wrench ready pull plug and inspect color. Now you know if the main jet is rich or lean. If lean increase jet from 110 to 112 and continue these steps retesting until the plug is a light to medium brown. Once your main jet is proper than you can work on the pilot or idle jet. Going from 110 to 125 will naturally run rich on a mostly stock buggy. As I stated earlier in a post the last HH I was able to get from HH had a 118 jet in a brand new totally stock engine .

I would go with a 116 then retest. A light tan is OK and the most efficient. Light brown to medium brown is best to keep the engine cooler.

My 2015 GTS 250 had a 107 main and a 37 pilot jet. My 2010 250 SS had a 108 main and a 38 pilot jet. Thought I'd put this out there for others for future reference.
My 2008 Kazuma Coyote 150 had a 95 main and a 35 pilot, not that many people had this model. But it's just stupid things I remember sometimes lol.
