Moaaarrr poooowwwwaaaahhhhh!!!
Hey guys,
I've got an American Sportworks Carbide 7150 with a 175cc GY6 in it. Would like to go to a bigger motor so I can actually keep up with my UTV buddies. Looking for something that will fit spatially (obviously important haha) hopefully can be transplanted without crazy amounts of fab work in order to make it work, and id really like to use something that has an internal F-N-R transmission. I'd love to find something like a 250cc or bigger. Might be a shot in the dark but I figured you guys might have some ideas. Thanks guys! |

You are not the first to want this. If you want significantly more power, find a 250 or do a frankenbuggy with a Polaris drivetrain or similar. There’s no replacement for more displacement.

No matter what you put into your buggy you will have a good amount of fabricating. Just keep this in mind. These buggies were built and designed for a top speed of 35-40 mph. Just compare your buggies construction to your buddies UTV which are designed for larger displacements and higher speeds. Larger tubing, heavier suspension, hubs, ball joints, shocks. Sure you can put anything in the buggy and make it work but it doesn't mean it will be safe. In other words there is no silver bullet here. A CN 250 would be the easiest but you can build that GY6 engine and get more power than the 250. One reason is there are a ton of parts for the GY6 and very little for the 250 which is no longer imported.
